In my healing work I have noticed that more and more people, including children, are sleep deprived.
Our way of life is not a constant any longer as the vibratory field of consciousness is transforming. Time is accelerating. We just cannot get done as much as we did even a year ago. This creates overwhelm and stress.
Often, sleep is affected due to stress or long hours into the night. However, in order to maintain our well-beingness, we need the REM and deep sleep cycles.
Irregular or not enough sleep has a wide range of negative impacts on our emotional, mental, energetic and physical health. It shortens our attention span, diminishes our reaction time, it dulls the senses, makes us short-tempered and more aggressive. Mood disorders, depression, and even epilepsy can be fueled by a chronic lack of sleep.
Our immune system is greatly influenced by sleep deprivation, to the point of triggering autoimmune inflammatory reactions that often lead into all kinds of dis-eases.
Without a healthy sleep routine, the brain suffers: brain waves imbalance, the circadian rhythm is irregular, neurons cannot repair themselves, the neurotransmitter systems dysregulate, sensory input cannot be organized and processed adequately, the microglia and astrocytes show signs of low level inflammation, the interplay between the brain and endocrine system suffers, and hormonal responses weaken as well as the mitochondria.
Stress induced by sleep deprivation changes neural connections and genetic expressions.
The digestive system slows down. This often leads to weight gain and a lack of nutrients available to the body.
Children’s growth is impacted as well because the growth hormones are secreted during sleep at night. The same is true for their capacity to learn and interact.
Many cellular transformations, including the integration of the new consciousness energies, occur during sleep. The physical body needs the deep rest to repair, release, shift and maintain a healthy homeostasis.
Creating and maintaining a healthy sleep rhythm is part of nurturing yourself. Essential oils, like Lavender, or chamomile tea, quiet a nervous mind, turning off the t.v., computer and mobile phone in the evening an hour before bedtime supports your circadian rhythm and pineal gland, conscious breathing connects you with yourself and your body after a busy day and releases stress…..these are only a few examples that support a good night’s sleep and your well-beingness.

I really needed to hear this message…..Giving my body plenty of rest of sleep, starting with one hour nap today. :))
Enjoy your rest and the deep nurturance it provides, Kristen! Much Love, Lightsong
